Community Cats

Our Dedication to our Community Cat Colonies

Our dedication to the cats extends beyond our sanctuary to feed, care for and rescue within our community cat colonies. We feed up to a hundred cats daily and are out trapping when necessary. Many of our long term sanctuary residents were once a member of the homeless cat community. Our fight is to continue to rescue more from these horrible conditions that statistically ends their lives way too soon.

Cat colonies are frowned upon and hated by many, but you have to ask yourself, how did we get here? Cats don’t choose to be neglected, starved or die of infectious disease. People who own or adopt cats have a responsibility, not only to properly care and provide for those animals, but to ensure they spay and neuter their pets. Cat colonies are a result of several things combined. First, irresponsible pet owners letting their unsterilized cats roam outdoors. Second, terrible pet owners moving and leaving their cats behind to fend for themselves eventually finding its way to a colony. Third, terrible pet owners just dumping their cats into colonies when they are not wanted any longer. Not all colony cats are feral due to these human behaviors, but all of them need our help and human compassion. After all the only reason they’re neglected and homeless is because of us humans. We are dedicated to the colonies we care for on a daily basis. We provide fresh food, fresh water and medical attention whenever necessary. Our colony cats are loved as if they were our own.

For the last several months we have been building additional space to continue our rescue and removal of the remaining community cats in this one area in Palm Beach County. Since the donations have been slow, so has our ability to build the additional space in the time we had hoped. As we are continuing to work towards the end of the building project we will still need to trap and remove each and every cat, which will require a veterinary exam and treatment. Please donate towards this project so that we can finally rescue and remove each every elderly cat from this location. Thank You!
