Mocha
Mocha was living in horrible conditions under a dumpster at one of our feral cat locations that we feed and care for daily. Mocha had given birth to a litter of kittens, we removed and adopted, before we were able to trap her for TNVR. During our visits to her location, we noticed at times she was not interested in eating so we kept a closer look on her for a couple days.
During this time, we noticed an increased amount of saliva that included blood, which caused us to panic. We immediately began to try and trap her which required some sophisticated ideas since food was not going to work in this case. It actually took a couple months before we were able to finally trap her.
Finally, Mocha was examined by a veterinarian and found to have severe swelling on her gums, the roof of her mouth and under her tongue. The vet diagnosed her with Stomatitis which also means she was immunocompromised and would need lifetime medical care. Mocha received a series of injections for pain and infection for the first twelve to eighteen months until she finally required a full mouth extraction surgery.
Mocha now enjoys her days at the sanctuary with her bestie Coco where she is now also able to keep herself groomed and requires injections less frequently.
