Dottie

Dottie was rescued from Palm Beach County ACC. on the same day we were there expected to pull a litter of three kittens, that were on last call due to two of them having prolapsed rectums and needing urgent medical care.

After we were given the litter of kittens, the lady then asked if I could possibly take another single very small, skinny, scared and sick kitten that had just been brought into their facility that they were also listing as “last call”. Last Call for ACC means that they give these animals 24-48 hours (depending on severity) before they are euthanized if not picked up since they do not have the resources available to care for them.

Dottie also needed immediate medical attention for dehydration and extreme diarrhea herself, which turned out to be caused by coccidia. Coccidia is a parasite in the intestines that if left untreated can be especially fetal for a kitten. Dottie has made a full recovery, but appears to have some minor birth defects and is also very skittish which prevents her from trusting others (felines or people).

Dottie is happiest when left alone to enjoy the day, but doesn’t mind the attention when it comes time to eat.
