Torte Feral
Torte Feral is one of more than seventy cats (now fifty) we care for at our Lantana colony. Arriving one night, as always, we do a head count to monitor all cats present, change out fresh water and prepare clean food dishes for each cat. As torte feral came out, upon arrival, we immediately noticed that her tail had been completely torn off.
Knowing that she must have been in severe pain, we put feeding on hold, rushed home for our trapping equipment so that she could receive medical treatment ASAP. It took several secret trapping tricks and a couple hours since she decided to play hard to get, but we were not leaving until she was caught. First thing the next morning she was seen by our veterinarian where she received a much-needed antibiotic injection, pain medication injection and was scheduled for surgery the following day.
Vet recommended she be kept safe, quiet and secluded to recover for at least two-weeks. She was scheduled for her follow up visit to receive an examination by the vet for clearance to safely be released back to her colony.
