Tasha

Tasha is one of more than seventy (now fifty) cats we care for at our Lantana colony. Arriving one night as we were preparing for TNVR for the following morning, we first did our head count of all our cats in this one area. When Tasha popped her head out it appeared she had developed an eye infection, so of course we reserved our first trap for her.

Tasha saw our veterinarian who treated her for the eye infection which included administration of eye drops for ten days. Within the ten days of treatment for her eye infection, Tasha also developed a UTI. Tasha returned to the vet for a urinalysis to confirm and was given additional antibiotics to treat the infection.

Tasha was not super social, so we were trying to work with her while she was under the care of the vet. Tasha went back and forth for months with an eye infection and a UTI. Tasha suffers from a weak immune system and also currently has developed a large number of crystals in her urine which require her to remain on prescription food. The crystals still contribute to her developing an occasional UTI, but we are optimistic that one day her diet will help reduce the crystals.

Tasha never became very social, but she made a close companion here at the sanctuary and lives a relaxing happy life.
