Bandit

Bandit was found paralyzed, by a homeowner, while lying flat out in their back yard. After being there for hours, they realized he wasn’t able to move, so they scooped him up and brought him to Animal Care & Control. We were contacted by ACC about Bandit and his immediate need for medical attention.

We immediately brought Bandit to our veterinarian for an examination to explain why he had no use of his hind legs. The x-rays showed that his spinal cord was severely swollen causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down. The vet suggested regular series of steroid injections to see if it will help the swelling to go down and to help him to regain some or all function of his back legs.

With each shot, little by little, after a couple of months Bandit started to stand on his own and without surgery! It was nothing short of a Miracle for us. Whatever happened to Bandit must have been pretty traumatic because sadly he still does not trust people. In fact, just the sight of anyone approaching causes him severe stress.

Bandit has made a full recovery and now lives forever at the sanctuary where he runs and plays whenever the mood hits him.
